Merry Christmas Kara!

PRESS RELEASE May 2006

Writer, age 10, struggling with bone cancer, realises

her dream of being published

Young Suffolk-based writer, Kara Siert has published her first book, ‘Tales of Cunburra and Other Stories’. Kara has been writing short stories since a young age and it has always been her dream to have her stories published. With thanks to children’s charity, Dreams Come True, and arima Publishing this has now been possible.

Kara was born in Nanning, China in 1995 and adopted at the age of eleven months by adoring parents in the USA. As an only child being home schooled, she has had the time to develop her gift of writing. As a result she has become a prolific, highly creative writer who has endeared her readers to herself with her imaginative and godly stories. She wrote most of the stories in this book at the age of nine and a half just before and after her family moved to England. Just weeks before Kara’s tenth birthday she was diagnosed with bone cancer in her right arm. Even though faced with this serious illness, her bright smile and loving personality remains unchanged as she fights her battle with cancer. She continues to write and draw with the artistic energy, zeal and passion of a true writer.

CUNBURRAa land where you will encounter talking animals, including a dragon, giant tigers, and tibuters! Read about Nancy, as she adopts animals and experiences thrilling adventures, as in the time when four snakes come to Nancy’s aid in the evil place of Closed Door Land. You will also read about an old dog and a lively kitty as they struggle to survive and a girl named Kimberly, who is desperately trying to find her lost Rainbow Hamster. In Up On Shadow Hill several horses search for their missing friend as Rocky the Great Buffalo King helps them battle with the Evil Lady of the Sea.

In Kara’s OTHER STORIES you will enjoy more escapades of animals and heart-warming people alike as they learn about love and forgiveness while Kara also shows you the way to experience a personal relationship with God.

“Kara Siert is an amazing writer with wisdom and insight that surpasses her years. Rarely have I seen such a well developed gift in a child so young. The stories I discovered in “Tales of Cunburra” were enthralling and the characters were full and multi-dimensional. The allegorical implications of this work simply serve to reinforce the fact that this writer is a prodigy whose time has come early in life. I encourage the reader to approach these stories with a heart full of wonder and I guarantee they will leave with a heart full of joy.”

Ellie Kay and Company, LLC, Best-selling author of nine books, popular international speaker & media veteran.

Tales of Cunburra and Other Stories [ISBN 1-84549-114-9] is published by arima publishing. It is priced £10.99 and is available through Amazon.co.uk Amazon.com, arimapublishing.com and High Street bookshops.
